Her journey began eight years ago when she picked up her first hoop and became completely obsessed. She poured time and energy into it and it poured back in equal measure. It became a creative force of its own- As much give as it is take, a dance. A constant back and forth between her and whatever she was spinning, each feeding the other.
That energy grew into something too alive to contain. She started seeking out other artists and creatives, looking for stages and spaces where she could share her art and her story with the world. What she found was more than she expected. Purpose in the performance, connection in the community, with other people and with herself. It became a lifeline.
When she found fire, something transformed. It has a wild energy of its own and working with it is a real dance, perfect control meeting something that doesn't want to be controlled. It stopped being just movement and started being a story. Who would she be that night, a lion or a firefly? She picked up double fire hoop, fans, sword, batons, anything that called to her and that she could get her hands on. Before long, fire fans became a favorite as well. There is something about them that feels completely unrestrained, able to shift from playful to slow and deliberate to something closer to a martial art depending on the moment.
A few years ago she discovered aerial arts and it took over. Dancing through the air, the exhilarating freedom of it, she loves exploring how the same skills and vocabulary can transform into something completely different depending on the feeling you put in. Through it she keeps a sense of connection to the childhood wonder of movement, discovery and play.
Both art forms gave her a sense of being exactly where she is supposed to be. She feels most like herself when she is performing, most connected, most at home.
She loves taking on different characters and playing within those roles, seeing how expression shifts depending on who she becomes that night. She loves collaborating and being part of productions as well and bringing their vision to life. And she loves her audience, the curiosity they bring, the moment they get pulled in. She hopes that for a minute they can let go and journey into a different kind of fantastical world, before coming home to themselves as well.
She hopes to keep finding those connections and keep doing this for as long as she can.
